LASIK
LASIK, in the hands of our experienced surgeons, is a safe, effective way to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. The LASIK treatment takes just minutes and is performed in two steps. A femtosecond laser is used to gently create a flap on the top layer of the cornea (the clear covering over the colored part of your eye). An excimer laser is then used to reshape the cornea in just seconds, and the flap is gently laid back in place and begins healing. The procedure is quick, it is not painful, and most patients resume normal activities as soon as the next day with markedly improved vision. LASIK is typically best for those between the ages of 18 – 40.
PRK
PRK may be a good alternative for patients who may not be suitable candidates for LASIK – typically because their corneas are too thin. Because the PRK treatment is performed on the surface of the cornea (vs beneath the flap as with LASIK), the healing time is a bit longer than LASIK. Patients may experience minor irritation and a more gradual improvement in their vision over the first week or two as their eyes heal. The end visual results LASIK and PRK are the same.
EVO ICL™
EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is a revolutionary treatment in which a lens is placed behind the iris (the colored part of the eye) and right in front of the natural lens, help you to achieve sharp, clear vision. Healing time is quick, with most patients resuming normal activities as soon as the next day with excellent vision. EVO may be a good choice If you are too nearsighted for LASIK or PRK, or if you like the fact that the EVO ICL can be removed in the future if needed. Good candidates for EVO are usually between the ages of 21 to 45 with moderate to severe myopia with or without astigmatism.
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)
RLE is a vision correction procedure for patients over the age of 40 who are interested in more freedom from glasses and contacts. While LASIK, PRK, and EVO can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, these treatments cannot correct presbyopia. Presbyopia is a natural aging process that gradually occurs in patients over the age of 40. Similar to cataract surgery, RLE involves replacing the natural lens in your eye with and advanced lifestyle lens. This allows you to see well up close, intermediate and in the distance, and decreases your dependency on glasses, contacts, AND reading glasses. Recovery is quick, with most patients resuming their normal activities within a day or two.
RxSight® Light Adjustable Lens (LAL)
This breakthrough lens technology allows you the unique ability to adjust and preview your vision until it meets your personal needs and lifestyle requirements. This optimization is done by your doctor after lens implantation through a series of light treatment procedures that only take a few minutes. This technology can be used with RLE or cataract surgery. Patients who may be good candidates are those in their 40’s or older.
