Dermal fillers are a great option for many people looking for non-surgical rejuvenation. Fillers can be used in various ways, from smoothing out wrinkles to plumping lips.

Certain fillers can also be used to add volume to the cheeks. Getting dermal filler injections is an easy process that only takes about fifteen minutes and with no downtime or recovery time.

But when do you see the results? It can vary based on a few factors, but for the most part, you’ll see results quite quickly.

Keep reading to learn more about dermal fillers and when you can expect to see results!

What Are Dermal Filler Injections?

There are a lot of reasons you may want to have dermal filler injections. Dermal fillers can be used to restore volume to the face, which may have diminished due to the natural loss of fat and collagen that occurs with aging.

As you age, fat and collagen in your body can break down, causing visible creases and hollows on the face. You may also have lost volume due to weight loss.

While this loss of volume is normal, it can make you feel like you look older or more tired. Restoring lost volume can increase your self-confidence and give you back your energy.

Results look subtle and natural, and the treatment is non-invasive.

What Are the Types of Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers can be used to treat different areas of the face, but there are fewer fillers used specifically to address loss of volume in and around the cheeks.

However, there are a few options offered at Revive Med Spa:

Juvederm Voluma

Voluma is the first dermal filler approved by the FDA to restore volume loss in the cheeks. Like most Juvederm fillers, it’s made from hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that’s naturally found in the human body in soft connective tissue, skin tissue, and even fluids in your joints and around your eyes. It’s often used for medical purposes, like treating joint pain.

Because Voluma is made from a substance found in the human body, the results of the injection look very natural. The injections integrate well with the skin on your face, restoring collagen and fat loss in the cheeks.

RHA 4

RHA 4 is also made from hyaluronic acid. It’s used to fill in what are known as dynamic wrinkles, which are wrinkles created from facial movements.

Specifically, it’s used to restore volume near the cheeks to reduce the appearance of pronounced nasolabial folds between the nose and corners of the mouth.

Radiesse

Radiesse is made from a substance called calcium hydroxylapatite. This substance is synthetically produced but is the same mineral found in your bones.

Like hyaluronic acid, it integrates well with your skin as it’s derived from a substance that naturally occurs in your body so it’s also very natural looking. It can be used to fill in both dynamic wrinkles and cheek hollowness.

When Do the Results Appear From Dermal Fillers?

For each of these types of dermal fillers, you’ll be able to see results pretty much right away. Your skin will appear fuller and smoother within just a day or two.

However, you won’t see the full results from these dermal filler injections for a couple weeks. This is because it takes time for the medication to fully break down and integrate with your skin.

When you get the treatment, it starts working right away, which is why you’ll see improvement immediately. But as the injection continues to break down and bind to your skin cells, it will continue to see improvement in the volume and smoothness of your face.

On average, full results from dermal fillers take a couple of weeks. However, you may see them more quickly as your skin may metabolize the injection faster.

Most people experience the full effects of their dermal filler injections after two weeks. While it’s likely you will see visual improvement right away, don’t worry if your immediate results aren’t as noticeable as expected.

Remember that the fillers will continue to break down and restore volume to your face in the weeks following your injection.

What Are the Long-Term Results of Dermal Filler?

The good news is, while the full results of dermal fillers take a few weeks, they typically last for a very long time. Fillers are eventually completely broken down and processed by your body, but their effects last quite a while— on average, a year and a half to two years.

These long-lasting results ensure that you don’t need treatment as frequently as you would for, say, Botox injections, which only last three to four months. But since dermal fillers do eventually get processed out of your body, they’re a great option if you don’t want to commit to making a permanent change to your appearance.

With fast and long-lasting results, dermal fillers are understandably quite popular.
